Suddenly, a shrill sound rang in the air, making the two's minds prickle with slight agitation. Every little noise seemed to cause at least one of them to turn around, in order to assure themselves that they weren't being followed. Paranoia seemed like the only conclusion to keep them aware of their surroundings; it was better to be scared to and prepared for something to attack, then not to be. "I'm afraid." The younger of the two girls drew to an abrupt stop, fear flickering in her eyes. "I...I think we should go back home." Leading the pair of them, another spoke, turning to peer at her sister. "Not backing out of this, are you? " Her yellow, challenging stare locked with her sister's. The older girl's fiery red hair cascaded down her shoulders like a waterfall, mirroring her personality. Her determination seemed to breathe hope into the other girl, but it was quickly retorted by another ear-blasting scream. "No, it's just...they've been missing, and we heard the yells, and what if...." The other girl's voice trailed off, as if she were unable to finish her sentence. "Do you see anything?" The younger girl looked a bit angry at the prospect that her sister expected her to find a way to cross. Gulping down her frustration, she began to carefully study the blocked passageway, deciding the quest would be easier with cooperation than disagreements. "Maybe...maybe we could just crawl through them? They aren't packed so tightly that it would be impossible for us to squeeze through without getting scratched. Down at the bottom, there seem to be a few slight breaks between them." The yellow-eyed girl was impressed by the amount of thought and consideration her younger sister had placed in her answer. A lump of jealousy rose in her throat as she recognized her sister had come up with a more legit answer than herself, but at least now they wouldn't have to gain many scrapes from the prickly bushed. Slightly raising an eyebrow, she nodded towards her sister. "Good idea," she praised the younger girl for staying calm even when they believed this would have a badly executed outcome. She knelt down, pressing her hands on top of the dead leaves that were thickly piled on the forest floor. Her sister copied her, repeating the exact motions that were
