Paramedics Personal Statement

From the beginning of my education, I have always been fascinated with working in medical fields. I have also always had my heart set on attending university in order to study my chosen subject, Paramedic Science/Practise.

I have chosen this as it would lead to a career i would love to do due to my massive respect for paramedics and the exciting and challenging role they have. This respect stems from having many family members involved in the NHS and healthcare. My sister, for example, is a massive inspiration as she has managed to work her way up from a student nurse to Head Sister in one of the busiest A&E units in the country.

Being a paramedic requires a wide range of knowledge and experience such as emergency medical care as well as having a basic desire to help and care for others. The subjects I have chosen at A-Level, Biology, Maths & Physics, will give me a good basis in terms of fundamental knowledge - especially Biology as it gives me an insight into human anatomy. The areas of Biology and Physics which have interested me the most have been

Once again, I took a leadership role within my tutor group and helped planned events, timings and people.

While in my spare time, I am a customer assistant at a busy supermarket and often handed roles in which I have to organise my timing well as well as delegate jobs to others. I was previously employed as a supervisor; in this role I was required to manage a team on one of our busiest days of the week and during my time there, the business grew.

I have a large family including four young nieces and nephews. I am regularly asked to babysit for them, which requires an immense amount of responsibility and care.
Along with my job, my experience with the medical services, my family experience and my passion for the course, I know that I would be a suitable candidate for a place on the

Both my work and educational experience has influenced my knowledge of EMS system components and operational design. Since December of 2008, I have been functioning in an EMS system. I started out in a fire-based EMS system, where I volunteered as an EMT/Firefighter. Shortly after, I started working for a private EMS agency. I initially functioned as an EMT-Basic, until I obtained my paramedic license and started functioning in both a private EMS system as well as a fire-based EMS system as a career paramedic.…

SCIENCE.PEOPLE.CARING. Three reasons why I want to become a paramedic. Twenty years have passed since overdoses surpassed car crashes for the leading cause of accidental deaths in Connecticut. I would spend my gap year volunteering as an EMT and jump-starting a localized, proactive effort against the opioid epidemic in Salisbury, Connecticut, where I have spent my summers since early childhood. I am not yet an EMT because of my age, but once I turn eighteen, I look forward to completing EMT Basic Training. My volunteering as a medical technician would benefit others, of course, but I would benefit as well, because I would gain first-hand experience with trauma and patient care. I am passionate about entering the medical field, and my time spent as an EMT will either confirm my ambitions or it may focus my interests away from trauma before I enroll in medical school.…

The field is always growing and changing and I yearn to undertake in this lifetime of learning. I find it so exciting that one day I can serve people by improving their health and do so using cutting-edge technologies, some which may have yet to be invented. I may not be able to change the world on the whole, but small actions can have a big influence. I look forward to creating a positive impact on a personal level, treating holistically and compassionately, as this is a career path that calls for an understanding of the human experience as much as it does an understanding of the human body. It is this interplay of science and service that makes medicine so unique, so compelling, and so fit a profession for me to…

I have not really been a part of any life or death situations but when the time comes and the outcome is good, I will be glad I chose the path that I chose. Currently, I am only an EMT-Basic and plan on advancing my license to EMT-Paramedic. I am also applying for a position with the Lincoln Fire Protection District, which is a volunteer fire department.
