Burns are some of the most common injuries, resulting in roughly half a million emergency department (ED) admissions per year in America (Singer, Taira, & Lee, 2014). Burn medicine differs from trauma as there is no golden hour which effects the expected development of a paitenet condition or even the mortality rate. The theory of the ‘first hour’ applies essentially to multisystem trauma victims, where the speed and quality of the primary diagnose and appropriate interventions are of greatest interest. This is not the situation with burn patients. The physiological difficulty following critical burn injuries occur with a delay, yet once they arise, they will be long-drawn, complicated and most likely influence a considerable portion of the body system (Kallinen, Maisniemi, Böhling, Tukiainen, & Koljonen, 2012).
