Saxitoxin was discovered in 1957, and is one of the most researched paralytic shellfish toxin. Saxitoxin is a potent neurotoxin, which means poison that affects the nervous system. Saxitoxin are a group of neurotoxic chemical compounds. It is a poison found in certain edible mollusks at certain times. Fish and Mollusks consume the poison without much effect. The poison is neurotoxic and causes Respiratory Paralysis that affects Humans and other creatures. It is also known as paralytic Shellfish poisoning.
