When it comes to superhero flicks, there are bound to be some similarities. With Marvel announcing in 2016 they would be following DC’s lead in bringing one of its biggest female characters to the big screen, it’s hard not to look at the pre-production factors without finding some similarities. The Marvel heroine we’re talking about today is Carol Danvers a.k.a Captain Marvel. No, not DC’s Billy Baston also known as Shazam and Captain Marvel and certainly not the CW’s Supergirl who is known as Kara Danvers. No relation.

They first attempted to bring her into the second Avengers film, Age of Ultron. The idea was scrapped due to the fact they had to flesh out her backstory before they tried to introduce her. For Carol, her mentor is Krell alien Mar-vell who goes by the human alias Walter Lawson.
Wonder Woman’s mentor is none other than her aunt Antiope, who serves as the leader of the Amazonian army. Antiope, unlike her sister and Diana’s mother, Hippolyta allows her niece freedom, something causes great concern for the Queen of the Amazons.
Screenwriters
Before any story can even become film, it needs to be written. For the Captain Marvel film, it will be written by three female screenwriters in the form of Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
Wonder Woman was written by a male screenwriter in the form of Allen Heinberg. The sequel is reportedly being co-written by director Patty Jenkins.
Directors
No film can head in any form of direction without the leadership of a director. In terms of Captain Marvel, the film will be helmed by two independent filmmaking duo, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. This marks the first time a Marvel film has been helmed by a woman and a female (Boden) - male (Fleck) duo.
Wonder Woman was helmed by solely a woman in the form of Patty Jenkins who did an amazing job.
