Parallel Structure Of Zero's Letter

Decent Essays
This essay talked about three things I included in my letter. These three things are my word choice, my sentences, and my use of perspective.

In Zero's letter I used broken up sent it to show how he is still learning grammar because he is the only one out of everyone who can't read, or write. In Mr. Pendenski's letter I used a lot of Western slang to show his Texan personality. Zero's letter used these words "I got every darn one of 'em right" (Kadam 1).

I used parallel structure to show how basic their life is and to show their routine. In camp Green Lake they keep doing the same thing over and over again. For example In Mr.pendanski's letter it said "y'all should also know that I was madder than a wet hen when I found out that you

Journal 5 “I Just Want To Be Average” is the Essay I most identify with. Wanting to fit in and be part of a group. Also, how the school and school system can have a large influence on a student’s life. I seem to have the analogous issues with the classroom as Mike Rose does. How he had a hard time concentrating on and trying to enjoy the material being taught.…

Overall the essays that we have read this semester have been good. There are a few essays in particular that I think benefited me the most was “The Time to Act I Now” written by Al Gore, “Just Walk on By” written by Brent Staples, and the “Letter from Birmingham Jail” written by Martin Luther King. These essays have benefited me in a numerous amount of ways in which I am going to explain how their writing styles helped me become a better writer. Staples helped me a lot in which he taught me to explain my reasoning fully so that the audience know exactly what I am talking about. Another thing that Staples taught me was to explain the setting of the story in full detail so the readers can visualize what’s actually happening in the story this…

The author, Andrew Braaksma, wrote "Some lessons from the Assembly Line." Working in the factory was somewhat of a life changing event for Andrew. In his article, he mentions work conditions, how his fellow employees felt and what he learned while attending school during his employment at the factory. Andrew’s goal was to go into detail of how poor the conditions were at the factory. He spoke of the “sweltering production floor”.…

Chapter 28 in The Norton Introduction to Literature talks about the elements of an essay. An essay is a short written assignment that develops and supports and idea that the essay is written about. Each essay has a reason for being written. Essays about arguments are meant to convince someone of their view point, while an essay about analysis is supposed to breakdown and explain something to the reader. Essays should include four things: a thesis, structure, evidence, and tone.…

Throughout the first semester of College Composition, I wrestled with three essays, all differing in format and content. The first was a narrative that reflected our educational experience. After this came an analysis of a visual text, followed by a research paper. The narrative was the easiest to write; however, I acquired important skills for writing the other two, which were in a less familiar format. With the three essays, I learned about my own writing skills and habits concerning development and critical thinking, time management, and organization.…

Writing was not a subject that held my interest in high school. Throughout the last twelve years I have found myself having to write letters, proposals, and business correspondence for my employers. I would complete the assignment and move on to the next task. Deciding to further my education I enrolled in Daytona State College and my first class was your ENC 1101. I have seen a change in my pre-class writing style; I have honed my skills, and the different techniques I have learned while taking this course have only improved my writing style.…

Experience about English 101 This semester of fall 2016, I took English 101. Before starting this class I must say I felt nervous and unsure about myself. I had trouble in the past with my writing skills and grammar.…

I am fully aware that being creative is a vital skill when it comes to being a strong writer. Unfortunately, I am going to conclude this quarter by doing what I have been all year, and that is answering the prompt. I guess it is safe to say that I’m putting a touch of creativity by not being creative at all. I am going to treat this essay as a cool down lap after a full on sprint of a quarter. My goal is to exhibit my growth as a writer by taking a more informal approach towards the prompts that were given.…

When I began studying at the University of Montevallo, I had a background of high school creative writing and English classes, and one summer of a college English class. To be honest, I was terrified of jumping into my fall English 102 class. I felt I was unprepared for a serious college level composition class, and that I would have a strenuous time adjusting to a four-year university. However, as I walk away from my English 102 class I carry the understanding of writing a college level essay, undertaking research and completing a research and argument paper properly, and knowledge to prepare me for my other classes and profession.…

Like I previously stated I learned how to do many things with my writing this semester. The first essay we wrote, a narrative, was probably my favorite essay to write. Although it was my favorite, it was definitely not my best. I wrote my essay and felt like it was complete and worthy to turn in. Little did I know that was not the case.…
