As highlighted in the book, parallel process involves the supervisor modeling the helping process for his or her worker. One part of parallel process is tuning which means being in tune and responding directly to the worker’s feelings. Another part of the parallel process is contracting which may consist of the supervisor helping the worker get ready for a new client. Furthermore, the parallel process may involve in empathic skills. For instance, if the supervisor tells the worker to be more empathetic and the supervisor does not express empathy to his or her workers that will not be effective in helping the worker. In addition, it consists of the supervisor helping the worker manage his or her feelings when dealing with a client in a crisis. …show more content…
The second step is the supervisor referring to the guide continuously in the supervision process. The third step involves periods of assessment so that the supervisor and worker are aware of the areas that need focus or improvements. The fourth step in the evaluation process is the supervisor and worker sharing responsibility for evaluating the guide. For instance, this ensures that both are involved in the experience of an evaluation. The fifth step is the supervisor and supervisee providing a daft of the documentation of their views. This process will allow the writing to be easier before the evaluation. The sixth step is discussing the two versions of a preliminary assessment. For instance, this helps both parties with elaborating on their comments and go through the form in detail to identify areas that are different.
