Paraguay is a country that is geographically located in the middle of South America. This country is far remote from the rest of the world because of where it’s situated and their social conditions. The southern part of Paraguay is a land rich with forests and rivers. In contrary, the northern part of the country is one of the more hostile suburbs for human occupation. People in Paraguay or the Paraguayans are different because of their contemporary culture that is an authentic blend of European and domestic. The country has been said to have a size the same as the state of California. Paraguay’s total area is 157,047 sq. miles. It mostly lies between 19° and 27°, 36 minutes S latitude and 54° and 62°, 38 minutes E longitude. The 3 major rivers in Paraguay: The Paraná, Pilcomayo and the Paraguay which gave the country its name. The population is estimated to be over 6 million in 2015 but is not evenly divided beyond the country’s limit. Paraguay is divided into 2 sectors the East or the Oriental region and the other is Western or the Occidental. The Eastern part is known as the Paradise on earth. Paraguay’s climate is semi-tropical. The weather is mainly determined by the wind. The beginning of October all the way to March are their summer months. During this time of the year, the Eastern region’s average temperature ranges from 75°F to 85°F. Whilst it is evidently warmer in the Chaco region, which has a daily average of 100°F. However, April through September are their shifting months. Shifting months are referred to as the transition months from hot to cold temperature since they have no real spring or fall season. The temperature is very different because of its low summer highs that occasionally drop below freezing point. Rainfall varies greatly in the country. In the Eastern side, average rainfall is 67 inches (170 cm) per year; the West side on the other hand, averages 20 inches (50 cm) per year. The problem with rainfall in the West is not because of the small quantity, but the inconsistency and the fact that rain evaporates very quickly in the waterless environment. This contributes to the struggle of living in the region and restraints the range of crops that can be grown.
