Some would argue that serving out of joy is selfish. It is true that there might be some exceptions where people serve in order to feel good about themselves, but that is not the case here. This kind of serving that I am talking about here is like the spilling over of joy from the person’s heart into actions because he is in absolute awe of the kindness and mercy of another. I must point out that this serving is not a form of repayment, for salvation is a free gift, but rather it is evidence that God, creator of the universe and sustainer of life, has captured one’s heart, freeing them from the prison of sin and selfishness, and is at work in that person’s life making them holy and righteous until Christ returns on the last day (Ephesians 2:8). I do not try to suggest that believers are somehow perfectly selfless because such is not the case, we too are still human. However, I do believe that following the only true God is the only selfless
