As time goes on, changes are evident but when talking about changes in education, there are too many to count. While some of these changes might be hard to adapt to, we as a society have to understand how to keep moving forward and continue to make improvements. These adaptations may be in technology, transportation, staff methods, etc.

Let’s first look at changes in the actual students. We all know as we get older we go through maturity and our bodies and attitudes change. This can be a very confusing and difficult time for some. It may get hard for some students to focus on their grades and studies while going through this transformation. A change that ties into maturity and development as people is who we associate ourselves with. Friends are such an

I don’t need to map it out from grade to grade but it’s obvious that every year that passes, you gain more of a sense of freedom as an individual. It all leads up to those first moments when you step on campus for the first day of classes living your new life, in your new home, with new people. All of this is very thrilling but can also cause problems if you’re not ready for this challenge. Not only do you have to mature as a person in terms of how you live without help from mom and dad, but you have to come of age in terms of being a student at a college that costs a large amount of money for you to be there. We have to know when to have fun and when to sit down and write a 750 word essay on education, we have to know the difference between going out to grab something to eat because I’m hungry and going out to grab something to eat because I don’t want to do laundry. There are so many more facets than the ones just mentioned, but the point is that living on your own can be a scary thing but if you were raised the right way and have the drive to make it work and succeed, then the transition will be a

High school is a staple of American culture. Popular culture is littered with high school imagery: cheerleaders at the homecoming game, senior prom, and finally, graduation. It is a major time of growth for adolescents and serves as a stepping stone into the adult world, giving students the skills and experiences needed to be successful later in life. However our perception of high school and the ‘high school experience’ is rapidly changing as alternatives to traditional schooling appear. An excellent example of this is an emerging program commonly referred to as ‘early college high school’, a duel enrollment program that allows high school students to receive an associate’s degree while earning their high school diploma.…

Hall-Dale Middle School vs. Hall-Dale High School The transition from middle school to high school can be extremely difficult for some, as there are many differences between the two. “The switch to high school can be disastrous if a child doesn 't make the transition smoothly -- more kids fail ninth grade than any other grade.” There are similarities, but the differences outnumber the similarities greatly. Middle schoolers for the most part are partaking in a difficult and confusing time in their lives, as puberty is ongoing.…

The day of August 27, 2012 I was officially titled a freshman. One look down those unknown red and blue walls, will forever change my perspective of high school. There was an instant moment of disbelief in my freshman, I was terrified, and no thought came to mind as to how I was going to survive high school for the next four years. Of course I knew it'll be different from my tiny middle school, but will it be like the cliché movies about the upcoming of age, or resemble the happiest times of life. From that first day, I knew I wasn’t like everyone else.…

Transitioning from middle school to high school is scary enough, not to mention finding out that your best friends won’t be attending that same school adds a little pressure on a pre-teen who, for the most part is really shy. When I first started high school I had a cousin who was a year older than me, she showed me around school and I ended up hanging out with her and her friends for a few months. Then she introduced me to some of her newer friends who were in the same grade as me. They were nice people and they got me through the first year of high school, but I never felt like I belonged to “their group”.…

Some aspects of education has changed, whereas, some have not. I feel as if this is something that needs to be seriously addressed and solved. Education should be something that reaches the depths of souls and minds for children to expand their knowledge, uniqueness, and potential. Albert Einstein said it himself, “Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”…

Long term systematic change: The issue that is brought up within the presentation would be considered a long term change issue. At the moment there is majority mentality within the North American society that the education system is acceptable the way it currently is. North America has a very large population between the ages of 40 to 65, which is the authority class in this scenario. Whether it be refusing to accept there is a problem, or genuinely believing that there is not a concern, without this demographics opinion being swayed the school system will remain stagnant. I believe there will be progress in regards to this issue when either the authority class of North America has an opinion shift, or when they are replaced by the next generation.…

As someone who is not a traditional student just getting to UL has been a massive achievement for me. I left school at a young age, thirteen, due to health reasons. Two developmental milestones that I have faced during my twenty-two years of life, thus far, are beginning college and ending college. Starting college in particular was a developmental milestone because it was different than anything I have ever experienced and for my family to experience as well. I am the first generation in my family to attend college. Both of my parents went straight into the work force after they graduated high school, and were not encouraged by their parents to attend college. I have two older siblings who decided not to attend college, because they wanted to go straight into the work force, and long term did not want to have to worry about paying back student loans.…

Students should graduate high school knowing proper grammar. I say this because they can get a good job that way. Students could also get into the college that they want. With good grammar the students would look even more educated than other students applying to the same school. Also it's important for students to have proper grammar after high school.…

There comes a point in every young man or woman’s life where they have to branch out on their own and find themselves. Usually this dramatic, yet necessary point is heading off for college. For most adolescents that face the daunting task of leaving their parents’ cozy home, it can be very challenging. There are some things that I have experienced and will experience in the years to come. First of all it is sad seeing your family drive off into the sunset with everyone in your family in the suburban except you.…

In his essay “Us and them,” David Sedaris describes his life as a child and how he ended up changing himself after realizing how disrespectful his behaviors were. While the boy is eating all of his candy so the neighbors do not get any, his mother barges in and screams “You should just look at yourself. I mean really look at yourself,” (Sedaris, ###) which prompted David to see how wrong he truly was. Much like the way David was acting in his essay when he was younger, I also had a time earlier on where I was harming myself due to my actions. During my middle school years, I was carefree.…
