Where one is able to make the decision to toss away his material possessions, in today’s society it is necessary to keep many of them to move forward and make progress. Progression can only be shown in the advancement of technologies and machinery. With that being said there are other ways that the paradox could contradict its easy nature. Having to let go of something is a very tough thing to do. The master has had years to practice living without possessions and has become very good at it (Lao Tzu). Because of this it may seem too easy to let go. Also the moment that you would stop caring for things and possessions, you would stop caring for the ones you love and respect. There are ways to get around these problems, but with the paradox being contradictory it many not solve all the problems. For example to give everything away would be a bad idea, so why not only give away those things you can live without? The same can be said for people, if you need that person in your life to function then you wouldn’t have to let go
