After her questionable termination from Paradise Valley Hospital, Karen Vogel is considering taking legal action against her former employees, primarily Julian Anderson and Cyprian Devine, due to the overall lack of support provided to her during her employment as well as the inability of upper management to explain the reasons for her termination. Prior to her current residence at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Vogel dedicated 16 years of arduous work at Paradise Valley Hospital where she advanced through the various supervisory levels until she was promoted to the director of nursing. Specifically, Vogel described how she believes that for Anderson is unwilling to listen to her regarding viable solutions to the current problems facing Paradise Valley Hospital. Feeling insulted, Anderson took these criticisms personally and responded antagonistically by offering an ultimatum where Vogel could continue her duties as acting director of nursing or be replaced. Unable to handle Anderson’s laissez-faire leadership, Vogel choose the latter option with the stipulation that she would be demoted to her previous job and was replaced in less than two weeks with an individual whom Anderson believed would complete the tasks assigned to them, without questioning his decisions. Despite the verbal accord, Vogel was not demoted, but rather unexpectedly dismissed due to the lack of suitable positions available at the hospital. Upon Vogel’s departure from the hospital, she was given an exit interview conducted by Cyprian Devine, the hospital’s vice president of personnel. Overall, the interview was cordial as Devine took account of Vogel’s answers, although when she asked about the “real reason” for her release, Devine’s responses became ambiguous. Ultimately, dissatisfied with her treatment, Vogel left Devine’s office reaffirming her position that Anderson unjustly fired
