Critical Analysis “She’s dead!” “It’s true, Daddy! Nancy’s dead!” (page 60). Truman Capote starts the book, In Cold Blood off by explaining how the innocent family of four, Mr. Clutter (Herb), Ms. Clutter (Bonnie), their daughter, Nancy Clutter, and their son, Kenyon Clutter, were brutally murdered in their home on November 15, 1959.…

The writer Carter Smith, known for his melancholy yet tasteful novel “One for Sorrows” was inspired to create a movie based on his novel, and called it Jamie Marks is Dead. The 1 hour, 41 minute long horror/drama film is tastefully savvy, fit for teens that have a knack for gay-platonic romance films mixed with death and depression. The movie came out just last year in January, and has been rated as “a poetic but flawed meditation on human connection,”(Sundance Review) yet I believe that this enticing film deserves better. Jamie Marks is Dead has its own way of telling a bullied boy’s story and displaying how it feels to be the “black sheep of all white sheep.”…

They actually did find her in Agloe at the place they went to search for her and Margo got pretty startled to see them there because it was never her plan to lead Q to her. Q got enraged because she left without saying a word and left him to wonder if she was still alive, so they got into an argument. Since this scene kind of defines and forms the ending of the book, the film's end is a bit different and I would say that it made the end kind of frustrating. Mostly because Q saw Margo randomly at the station where he was waiting for his bus and Margo also explained that she had contact with her little sister the whole time, which I find really annoying because Q talked to her little sister right after Margo’s…

The show opens with a fast forward to the final episode of the season, similar to season one of How to Get Away with Murder (Robinson, 2015). A station wagon is seen flying down a dirt road and we see the three main characters (who are inside the car) looking behind them in a panic. Without any further context it will cut to the opening credit sequence which are panoramic shots of New Mexico, inspired by the opening scene of chapter 39 of House of Cards (Buchman, 2015). In the pilot episode, the audience is introduced to Det. Maya Vasquez, the town of Lake Arthur, and the strange occurrences going on there.…

I believe that the symbolism of the fence in “Araby” stands for the division that the boy faces in the aspect of reality vs. illusion. In Araby, the boy cannot obtain the affection of Mangan’s sister, therefore, the fence can symbolize this idea that “what the boy dreams” of versus “what is actually occurring” cannot and will not happen due to the unobtainable status and obstacles that are in his way. In other words, the fence seemingly symbolizes the unobtainable status and his disillusion with reality that he soon overcomes when faced with the disappointing realities of the bazaar that was meant to be extremely wonderful. A major literary work, that I have read in another English class, which is indeed political, is Harper Lee’s…
