My Reflection Of My Response Paper In The Classroom

Going back and reading my response papers is bittersweet for me. The first semester of my freshman year is coming to an end and I cannot fathom it. I go back and read my response papers and can see them in a different perspective now. During the course we have discussed a number of themes. The themes we have deliberated in class include education, language, human nature, justice, government, and social order. Seeing all of my response papers together makes me realize things differently and how my writing has evolved through the course. When printing out and reading my responses I realize little mistakes now, like comma placement and run on sentences. I did not realize them when I first wrote and edited them. It is mostly grammar mistakes I realize now. It is like I am looking at them with fresh eyes. While reading my first response paper, I realized it was very good, but very personal. This is because I related to the topic directly. In high school, my chemistry class was more about memorizing than actually grasping the material. I think that is why I gravitated towards the response. I look at my response and when I was writing that I did not realize how personal the response was. I went on to look at my response to the language theme about Gloria Anzaldua. When I wrote this response, I honestly thought this was one of …show more content…
I look at this one and how different it is from my first one. I feel this one shows how I evolved as a writer. This response I start with the topic as a whole, instead of going straight into the response and answering the question. Then I go on to explain what happened in the scene. I tell how I felt while reading, how I was surprised I was. I felt I ended the responses on a good note with this one. Not just because I understood the topic, it was because I see where I was on the first few responses and to where I am now. There was less grammar mistakes and I am thankful for

It feels like so long ago when I first began this English course. I can remember being so excited about the class topic, racism and social justice, which I felt that I had a lot of passion for. Little did I know that I would have to gather up even more enthusiasm and passion to be able to continue writing papers about the same topic all semester long. Literacy Narrative I view myself as an average writer and reader for my age. The guidance and support from others is what I believe supports my literacy the most. This consists of my parents pushing me to do my best by encouraging me to read and write better by their support and guidance through assignments and doing other forms of literacy for entertainment. I never always viewed myself as an average writer and reader for my age, I actually thought my literacy was quiet mediocre. It has been just recently that I feel I have become an average write and reader.…

The start of the year I have grown in my writing and grammar skills in ELA 10. I have been challenged a lot this year from my teacher on different types of writing processes and different types of writing pieces. In the beginning of the year I used to struggle and have a really bad procrastination on my writing where I would basically just write what came to mind and I meaninglessly put it down on paper. Functioning through and looking back at old pieces of writing I sense if I put my mind to it and not fool around my writing would definitely improve. I've ingenious my strengths and weaknesses this year and to examine all my work I have seen how much I have changed since the beginning.…

English Composition I taught me a lot about myself, including how to be a better college student, through the process of writing. At the beginning of the year, I was not very excited about having to write argumentative papers. This is because I did not care enough about the assigned topics to have an opinion. But, I did learn a lot that I would not have known otherwise from having to research information about the topics I chose to write about. For example, in paper #2, I wrote about the niqab and how I believe that it is oppressive to women.…
