I recognized that listening to and aiming to understand one another are crucial for successful advancements. I joined many extracurricular activities with an intention of communicating this knowledge to others, including Student Council, the school newspaper, Model United Nations, and the Student Ambassador & School Tour Guide group. These groups allowed me a position to express my belief that, when we are discussing diversity, we should continue to look further than the surface. Furthermore, I put myself in situations to learn more about diversity and how it impacts work dynamics. Though I was the only person of color present in my summer internship group in Maine, the more prominent diversity was in our approaches to situations. Our success was attributable to the respect that we showed one another, regardless of differing opinions. The experience enhanced my understanding of the value of diversity
