Paper On Bowstring Bridge

For our design we have decided to do a bowstring bridge. A bowstring bridge normally are used to carry road and rail traffic. By bowstring bridges being able to use arches it makes it so that the weight of anything crossing the bridge is actually able to go straight down into the bridge instead of dispersing across the entire bridge. This makes sure that the bridge doesn’t have one spot taking on too much weight on the bridge. Bowstring bridges tend to be become stronger over time because the bridge becomes compact on itself and it becomes denser therefore making the bridge stronger over time.
Now, an example of a bowstring bridge is the Lowry Avenue Bridge in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This bridge was made in 2007 and opened in October 2012.
