“Stop wasting your time!” my father shouted at me. “This is the most useless thing you could be doing!”
“Your room is a mess again!” my mother nagged, looking at the floor. It was littered with dozens of paper airplanes, paper scraps glued to the floor, and bits of tape. “Stop making those paper airplanes!”
I’ve been an engineer since I was in first grade. My favorite hobby was folding paper airplanes with a friend and having daily competitions to see who could make the plane that flew the farthest. During recess we stayed in the library making intricate folds instead of playing football; after school we would try to fly our planes onto the roof.
