The film Titanic (1997) was based off of a true life event, though the romantic tragedy between Rose and Jack may be probable. The RMS Titanic was a newly build, British passenger ship that was on its first voyage across the Atlantic; sailing from Southampton, UK to New York City, NY. The Titanic sank after colliding with an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean during the early morning hours of April 15th, 1912. The creators of the film took that moment in time to create a tragic love story about a young girl forced into marriage and a young man who is destined to save her while ultimately falling in love. It takes a variety of jobs with different roles, some with specialize skills in certain areas to produce a successful film. This movie is about a young girl named Rose (Kate Winslet), whom comes from a wealthy family and the only way to insure that they stay that way is for Rose to marry a wealthy man. During her voyage she meets a young man named Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio), whom shows her a world that is different from the one she is used to. They meet during a moment in Rose’s life where she feels trapped, doomed to live a life that she does not want and decides to take an attempted on her life. It is the Directors job that the movie is played out according to the writer of the screenplay. There is a small scene during the sinking of the Titanic where an elderly couple is holding each other tightly in bed; as if they had decided that they were going to die and they wanted to leave this world together. The Director did an amazing job bringing the story to life; “Titanic” won 11 Academy Awards and many others, including Best Director, (This History Channel, March 1998).
