Papa is a very humble and quiet man. He takes care of his family by building houses, but also uses his power for good. Papa is a very nice and generous man by “receiving the spiritually needy: the recent widows, the women who had lost children” (Cofer 4). He never charged them. Papa also seems like a very respectful man by letting his wife “banish him to the back of the house” (Cofer 3) because she was skeptical of his practices. Papa is a very smart, gentle, and easy going man who cared for his clients and his family.
