Aha! In the beginning there was nothing because there was death and hunger (pp118). Soon death decided it’d be better to have an actual form. (pp118). Basically everything came from everything. But a lot of what we know came from destruction (pp. 119). One God even turned himself into a sacrifice (pp. 119).
Huh? Does this mean that Hindu’s are actually pantheists since all objects just decided to give themselves a form?
So…In Christianity there was nothing and then God made all sorts of good things, for Hindu’s they believe that at one time everything was one and everything began with destruction. This is why death stopped being such a common occurrence when he took a form. It was

The Book of Genesis only mentions this a few times, however, when it does it is very clear cut. " And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters" (Genesis 1:2). Also in Hesiod 's Theogony, it is said that," First of all Chaos came into being; but next wide-breasted Gaea" (Theogony 116-117). Both of these statements show how Genesis and Theogony explain that their creators created everything out of a void, nothingness, or chaos.…

Before there was anything, there was nothing. Nothing wanted something, so, it became something. This something was called the universe. There were three gods; Vent (Air), Feu (Fire), and Obscurité (Darkness), and three goddesses; Terre (Earth), Eau (Water), and Lumière (Light). As they wandered the universe together, they noticed how lonely the universe could be when there was only them to talk to.…

: It’s known as “the beginning” when God created all things out of nothing. His creation is credited to the father, son, and holy spirit. The manifestation of the creator was the great ending of “creation.” Adam and Eve: They are the first man and woman that God created; they are also the first to betray him by eating “the fruit of the tree” in the Garden of Eden.…

There are cultures all over the world that while they have contrasting beliefs, they have a similar story of a god in an egg which creates the world and universe within. These beliefs have been transferred through generations of hymns, chants, and written records. Similar cosmogonic traditions are almost parallel in China, Tahiti, India, Africa, Finland, Greece,. According to Sir Isaac Newton, “God is able to create Particles of Matter of several Sizes and Figures, and in several Proportions to Space.…

During this week’s reading, I couldn’t help but notice how differently the federal government has approached the subject of religion across different times and different venues; even as the legal separation of church and state is no new concept. Ratified as a part of the 1st Amendment, this civil liberty has far outlasted any modern court battles between religion and secularism. Interestingly enough, they have shown precedent on both sides of the religion in public services controversy. On one hand, coins in American currency are engraved with the message “In God We Trust”, every session in the House or Senate begins with a prayer, and each house of Congress has their own chaplain.…

In Hindu teachings possessions lead to greed, envy, and working for money was deemed as bad karma, where as in Christianity and Catholicism it is okay to own things, and work, but you need to give to charity and give money back into the church so that those who have less have a little more help. Another difference in the teachings of both religions is god. Christianity is a monotheism where there is only one god and Hinduism is a polytheism, in addition to the type of religion the god in Christianity the one god “he does not delight in destroying lives (Ezekiel 33:11). As shown in the conversation between Arjuna and Krishna there is little regard to other life, by ordering him to fight in the battle otherwise he will be reincarnated in a worst situation. This difference exists because as stated before, in Hinduism life is everlasting due to reincarnation, but in Christianity there is only one opportunity to reach salvation.…

One of these contrasts is to do with the belief that Christians have and how they believe God created to world out of nothing. Hindus don’t believe that God created the world out of nothing but would have used some form of material or substance. In the religion of Hinduism their goal is to break the cycle of death and rebirth but in Catholicism the goal is to obey his commandments and also forming a relationship with Jesus. Another main goal is to spread to gospel throughout the world.…

Since the dawn of man, one question has echoed through our minds: “How did we get here?” There are many answers to this question, scientific and otherwise. Almost every form of religion has a different process of creation. Greek Mythology stands out because there are many different parts to the creation, yet there is not a set timeline. Greek myths were written in different places, at different periods of time; therefore it becomes difficult to place these events in a linear timeline.…

The most interesting thing about religions is how the people who subscribe to a certain sect think that their belief are unique and are the best in comparison to others (Van Voorst 15). Many people affiliating to a particular religion believe that their religion is the only true one and either do not clearly mention the fate of the people subscribing to other religions or they just assume that they are headed in the wrong direction (Knott 60). However, a closer examination of the major religions clearly depicts a lot of similarities in their doctrines about life and life after death. Most of the religions believe in a life after death influenced by the actions of an individual while alive. Christianity The birth, death, and resurrection…

The History Of all the religions in the world such as Judaism, Buddhism, Jainism, Islam, and Christianity, Hinduism is the oldest living and still practiced religion, but only the third largest. Hinduism originated in India located between the Himalayan Mountains (north), Sri Lanka (south), the Arabian Sea (west), and the Bay of Bengal (east). When looking at a map of India it is shown that this subcontinent is isolated. Due to this isolation, India has created a culture that is rare and fascinating (Experiencing the World’s Religions). The word ‘Hindu’ does not belong to Indian language; it is derived from the Sanskrit word Sindhu, which is a local name for the Indus River that flows throughout India.…
