The insects are awful to look at, but Ofelia turns to the horridness that can be imagined away than the abominable colors of Vidal that cannot be removed. She turns back to her imagination in order to escape the horror that she feels is to come, implied by the shaking of Vidal’s hand. He tells her “it’s the other hand” as she shook him with the left hand. Ofelia then proceeds to chase the insect she saw in the woods before she arrived at the farm house. These sudden diversions of events from the imaginary to the reality world and vice versa convey a message that we use our imaginations to escape from the reality world. Our fantasy world plays a crucial role in helping us facing our problems in the reality world. Every human beings imagination is triggered by the challenges and obstacles faced in the real world and as humans, we tend to overthink our problems.
