The community of Salem was fine and smooth running until one thing went wrong. Once the community caught wind of possible witchcraft, it was send into a state of mass hysteria. This caused a close, tight knit community, to turn against one another and have people who are friends, and family, turn against one another. These people once trusted each other and are now accusing others of murdering babies and association with the devil. Others use this panic as a way to advance themselves. One part I particularly enjoyed is a very small, irrelevant part of the play, but shows a lot about the character of the characters. In the end, Hale please that the accused of witchcraft falsely admit to the crimes they have been charged with. All of them refused to be persuaded into admitting something they were not guilty of. This show that they are strong, and willing to stand up for themselves. Most people would give in immediately in fear for their life, but John and the others acted on the contrary. They refused, because they knew that they were innocent. It takes a lot of guts to accept death in the light that you uphold your integrity. One thing I believe they could improve on is just more depth into the story. I found myself questioning how Abigail became involved in witchcraft. What drew her into that and why hadn’t she been caught
