The adviser should have a broad knowledge of the responsibilities of each office and the ability to work objectively with the Nominating Committee to produce a balanced slate. Due to her experience and chapter knowledge, the Chapter Council Adviser is normally the Nominating Committee Adviser. However, another adviser may be named if the Chapter Council Adviser is unable to serve. The Nominating Committee Adviser’s duties are to:
• Be familiar with the nominating procedures of the chapter and the Fraternity.
• Attend all meetings of the Nominating Committee.
• Assist in training the committee in procedures it is to follow.
• Guide the committee in the selection of nominees by helping members become aware of the duties of each office and the need for overall balance in the slate.
• Assist in the tabulation of results of individual slates turned in to the committee.
• Assist the committee in maintaining confidentiality.
• Serve as a member of the committee without vote. Remembering to avoid expressing strong feelings about the personalities of individuals.

The officer installation service is found in the Book of Ritual.
Installation of the advisers along with the chapter officers is an appreciated gesture. This formal process strengthens the working and personal commitment of adviser and officer. The installation also provides an opportunity for the chapter and advisers to spend time together, giving chapter members a better understanding of the adviser’s role. An informal reception honoring the advisers and officers may be held after the formal installation.
Meeting With the Leadership Consultant
A Leadership Consultant visits each chapter at least once per year. Leadership Consultants are staff members and recent graduates who travel to chapters and work closely with local volunteer advisers and specialists to address the chapter’s specific needs. Trained by Fraternity officers, Leadership Consultants gain new experiences and ideas through chapter visits.
Conferences and meetings with the Leadership Consultant should be scheduled by the Organization Committee and its adviser as soon as visit dates are
