I am interested in becoming an administrator in this community because I know I can aid with Whatcom Community College’s strategic goals and my values align with its mission statement. Though the utmost care and attention to my administrative duties, I would love to help WCC create opportunities for student growth and facilitate a diverse academic environment, which pushes students and staff toward excellence. I have recently graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, but I was also born and raised in Whatcom County and I would like to bring my academic and professional skills back to my local community. Moreover, my prior experience at Spokane Community College has shown me the positive and lasting impact a Community College can have…
1. What are your reasons for applying to Rutgers University School of Social Work? Discuss how your personal, professional, and/or community experiences and values affected your decision? The most important influence for pursing a graduate degree at Rutgers University School of Social Work is to break down barriers and obstacles that have been placed in front of me.…
Well it has been almost 4 months that I have been attending Roanoke Valley Early College. I love it here and I don’t see how anyone couldn’t. So far I have learned a lot about school. By taking time to observe my surroundings and everyone around me, I have learned that everyone in high school is not your friend and that I am learning how to sense a bad vibe before I let anyone get too close to me. RVEC is the only school that has taught me that all teachers are not these people that hate their job because the teachers here including the ones I don’t take yet are always showing us that they really want to be there and help us and teach us.…
I am currently seventeen years old and am in my senior year of high school. I have work experience from working at my dad’s printing company, Oregon Blue Print, and for being a referee for the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District Sideout Volleyball program. Some of my skills, gained through working, are that I am able to work in fast paced environments, able to multi-task, and able to work well with others. During my high school years I have developed other skills such as leadership abilities, communication skills, and dedication. Using the skills I have gained through my years I plan on becoming a high school art teacher.…
It is a bit surreal to think that I will be a senior at Endicott College in the fall. It feels as if just yesterday that I was 17-years-old, applying to colleges and hoping that once I secured a face-to-face interview, that I would be able to explain why my grades suffered my freshman year of high school. I was hoping that once in an interview that a reputable college would take a chance on me, to take into consideration the bullying I endured, for me to showcase my academic abilities. Endicott was that school. In 2013, I graduated Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School and never looked back.…
As my friend predicted, I changed my mind and wanted to go to college that fall. Hurriedly, I sent in an application to Marlboro College. Marlboro seemed like it would be a smooth transition from high school to college. My high school was a boarding school focused on experiential learning, with a diverse, close-knit student body.…
Goals and Expectations for My Time At Castleton and Beyond Castleton is the perfect environment for me to exercise and apply the ideas expressed in Zakaria’s book, In Defense of a Liberal Education. After reading the assigned book this summer I found that I gained a new understanding of how schools are run, from elementary to higher education. Throughout my time in high school I experienced an ever growing curiosity as I was being exposed to new ideas by both my teachers and my peers, but not being thoroughly taught about these new subjects. Castleton is where I hope to gain the ability to explore these curiosities I’ve acquired more effectively both in and out of the classroom. I was never quite sure what it meant to go to a liberal arts…
Striving to graduate and become the best I personally can be. I plan to achieve far bigger heights then I have ever seen while being at AVC. I am studying Arts and Humanities for the board scope of history stored in art. Exploring the full diversity of the humanities, including art, literature, foreign language, mass media, natural science, and social science. Also gathering other information as I go switch contains things like law, religion and etc.…
During my time in high school, I have realized what I am truly passionate about. When I’m not at school or working at Chick-fil-A, my time is almost entirely devoted to band. I am also always looking for ways to create a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly space. Environmental awareness and music make me the happiest in my life. I’ve spent roughly 1,300 hours taking part in my high school marching band program.…
1 I come from a long line of educators and administrators on both sides of my family. Various relatives of mine have taught me to understand and appreciate the importance of education. This being the case, they have inspired my decision to be a teacher, preferably an elementary school teacher. Last year, I sat in on my aunt’s third grade class at Washington Irving, an elementary school in my district that I attended for three years. After visiting the classroom a handful of times, I absolutely fell in love.…
As a student athlete who moved multiple times, I built many relationships with my teachers and coaches. I will always remember the teachers and coaches that had a positive impact on my life, whether it was in second grade or my senior year of high school. When I entered college, I contemplated majoring in Education and going straight into teaching because it was of serious interest to me. However, I chose to go another route with my major. After working for a few years in another field, I decided that it was time to strive for a profession that enthused me.…
There are a number of reasons why I want to pursue a teaching credential at California State University, Long Beach. First, some of the most enjoyable times in my life have occurred when I have been teaching. My first teaching experience was when I was twenty as a camp counselor. It was a camp for junior high school students and I got to teach them in groups and one on one with each student. I was in locum parentis for one week with each group of junior high school students.…
Why do people want to attend a service academy? Is it because of a title, or honor, or does it have to do with the idea to prove themselves? These are all questions that race through the head of people who hear about people wanting to attend a service academy. Not only is it a competitive field to apply and get accepted, but if accepted to a service academy a person will be academically, physically, and mentally challenged. If I was asked four years ago, I would have told a person that I didn’t even know about a service academy.…
I believe in Walden’s mission statement of positive social change. Walden’s mission statement is one of the things that attracted me to the university to pursue my PhD. I am an advocate of positive social change. I enjoy helping others reach their personal and professional goals. To promote positive social change, I teach business courses to high school students who become first generation college graduates. I teach college courses to high school students that become the first person in their family to receive a college degree.…
