Zeus gave Pandora a storage jar/box as a wedding present, which she was told never to open, no matter the circumstances. The box was locked and Zeus gave the key to Epimetheus. Pandora begged him to open it it but he always said no. Finally one day when Epimetheus left the room, Pandora could stand it no longer, she opened the box, without knowing the consequences. Out poured a stream of ghostly creatures, disease, poverty, misery sadness, death and all evils of the world. They would forever after plague mankind with evil and death and everything in between. Pandora slammed the box shut but it was too late. Shocked from what had just happened, she tried to shut the box, but the damage had been done. Everything had escaped except for one thing, Hope. Then she reopened the box and released Hope, she fluttered from the box, touching the wounds created by the evil she had unleashed. Zeus sent Hope to keep people going after all the bad things happened. Most say that even today Hope still remains in humanity even in the darkest of times fixing things that are filled with evil. Today, Pandora's box means a source of troubles. It’s often said as a metaphor, that we don't know what we are getting ourselves into, and what our consequences will be. This is how Ancient greek believes evil happened, and will forever be with us, because of the beautiful
