The Issue that I have chosen to research and talk to you about today is Palm oil. The affects it has on the environment and the benefits of this product being made and produced. So my question today is should palm oil be allowed to be produced and sold?
What is palm oil?
Palm oil is a vegetable oil that is used for cooking and baking. It is found in products such as; baking products, shampoo and conditioners, cleaning products, washing detergents, cosmetics, sunflower oil and even toothpaste. It is high in saturated fats and comes from the fruit of a palm tree mostly the skin and is found in almost 50% of known and common household products. It is produced in various countries around Asia, North and South America and Africa.

This is leading to the extinction of many species affected from these palm oil plantations being developed.
There are two main environmental factors that are common within this issue and they are the biotic and abiotic factors. The factors affected in this issue are the animals living within the environment. Such as; monkeys, orang-utans, fish, birds, tigers and bats, humans by cutting down their resources to the environment which could be a rainforest; small organisms living in the area; the plants, bushes and flowers that are growing in the area are also affected. As the manufacturing prices are very low to produce because it has a larger yield, so the product can be sold at a lower price to the manufactures which use this product which mean the products such as shampoo and household detergents can be sold cheaper to us so we get to save. Palm oil is also beneficial to us as it allows our hair to become stronger and smooth; it is also a great product to cook with. Not only that it benefits vegans as it is used a replacement for meats and sugars in most common vegan foods that are produced and found in every day super
