The palliative nurse that I am going to develop works in an ICU setting caring for a patient 1:1. The patient is a 60 year old male, who was in a major car accident, and has many serious injuries, and the doctors say he will not survive. The patient is a father of 3 children, a son age 18, and two daughters ages 28 & 34. The patient is married to his high school sweetheart and they have been together for 45 years. The family is just devastated. They have never had any traumatic situations in the past, and the patient is the bread winner for the family. The family all have lots of questions, and each member is dealing with the situation differently.
