Dr. Loren Cordain is a founder of the Paleolithic diet. Born on October 24, 1950 in the United States, he specialized in nutrition and exercise physiology(Loren Cordain). From a young age he was said to have been interested in nutrition when his mother persuaded him to eat his peas and carrots and his father bought him a cave man diet book. When he reached college age he got his bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from Pacific University, his masters in Exercise Physiology at the University of Nevada, and his PHD from the University of Utah. He is now working as a Professor at the University of Colorado(Loren Cordain).
The Paleo Diet is best described as the world’s “healthiest diet.” It consists of anything you could eat from hunting and gathering and that is all, no cookies, no crackers, and no chips. On this diet he has said that one might have a reduced risk of heart disease and other degenerative diseases, loss of weight, improved mobility, a decrease in acne breakouts, better sleep patterns, an increased libido, and he believes many will enjoy a longer life(About the Paleo Diet). If I were to talk to Cordain today about the Paleolithic diet, I would have a couple questions for him. First, I would talk to him about why he really believes this is the best and healthiest diet out there and what really made him want to choose this profession. It was a great decision for him because he has changed the nutrition world, but why did that feel like the perfect fit for him. It is said that when he became involved in athletics at school he loved trying diets that improved his athletic potential.     After reading "How safe is the Paleo diet?", I have learned that fad diets are not the way to achieve weight loss.
