In the late 1400's as Trade Goods became more common by way of sea, Europeans were able to obtain advanced navigational tools such as the compass from China and the astrolabe from the Arabs. Everyone wanted in on this business of Trade Goods. It was lucrative and powerful. It was no different for sailor and explorer, Christopher Columbus, an Italian seaman from Genoa. Christopher Columbus desired to explore new trade routes and expand the already existing ones. Unfortunately, no one was willing to fund such explorations for this visionary with high goals. But he did not lose hope. Up until now, Spain was divided into 3 separate hierarchies; Aragon, Castile and Granada. Once Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castile were wed in 1469, their two kingdoms united, however; this still left Granada as an independent kingdom. Over time, Ferdinand and Isabella proved to be good rulers and succeeded as Kind and Queen, but they wanted desperately to unite Spain as a whole country. In 1492, they obtained their goal as they conquered and defeated the Moors uniting Spain as a whole. Once Spain was united, they desired to get more involved in Trade Goods and needed to go to the Orient. Thus, offered to assist Columbus the use of three fully equipped ships in exchange for their safe passage. In
