Overview of Pakistan Pakistan is a federal parliamentary republic consisting of four provinces and four federal territories. It has many ethnicities and many languages that people speak in this country. Pakistan is a regional and middle power, and has the seventh largest standing armed force in the world. It is a nuclear power as well as a declared nuclear-weapons state. They are the only nation in the Muslim world and the second Country in Southern Asia to have that status. Pakistan has a semi-industrialized economy with a very successful agriculture sector; its economy is the 26th largest in the world in terms of purchasing power and is one of the largest growing economies in the world. English is one of the official languages that is taught in schools, it is used by the government and the well educated. Urdu is the other official language. They are considering replacing English with Urdu because it is the nation 's unifying language. Muslims take Muhammed as the greatest of Allah’s prophets but also accept other major biblical prophets from Adam to Jesus. The Qurʾan is composed of Allah 's revelations communicated to Muhammad by the angel Gabriel and is the chief scripture of Islam. There is a small Hindu and Christian community in Pakistan. The prime minister is head of government but a president leads Pakistan as a head of state. Their parliament consists of a one hundred seat Senate in which local assemblies elect members of the Senate to six-year terms.
