Pain And Deprivation In Elie Wiesel's Night

Night, an autobiography written by Elie Wiesel, is about a real, gruesome life experience the author himself faced at the age of 15. It makes you really realize a few life lessons like a high point of pain and deprivation that make you act in an irrational and unusual way, you figure who you really are through your lowest point of your life, and you might not be in the situations or be affected, but you can spread a message rather than ignoring the cause. As you read along on Elie’s painful experience, you realize that the people around him change. For example, in chapter 6, Ellie realizes that a son, who deeply loved his father, left his father behind. The White Rose group is a prime example of this lesson. It was a group who was against the Nazis and Hitler and uncovered the truth about what they’re doing which did bring awareness to many naive people. Sadly, they were punished after being caught. Today we have the bigger advantage. There’s so many laws and rights we have that prevents us from being punished for speaking our voice. Many peaceful rallies have happened that fought for black lives, women rights, sacred land, etc. No deaths have resulted in any of these. You could peacefully bring awareness without being afraid. We have so many important topics that need to spread and made aware of to prevent them from happening again. All in all, there was plenty of life lessons in Night, but the most obvious and significant ones for me were that people find out who they are through tough situations, pain and deprivation can make you act different, and you can’t choose what happens, but you can be aware.
