Paid High School Students To Succeed In The Real World

High school has a big impact on every teenager. That is where they are groomed and taught the skills they need for the real world. However, in the modern day they are not taught what they need to succeed in the real world. Education is the key to American Dream but high school is failing students to succeed by not teaching them the essentials skills of the real world, by forcing them to take unnecessary courses, and implementing curriculum that was targeted for kids 20 years ago. Teachers in American high schools are not focusing on the skills that students needs to make it in the real world. Students are not taught the basic skills such as writing a check to creating a resume. These are the simple things that every graduated high school student should know. According to Malcolm London " Oceans of adolescents come ... to receive lessons, but never learn to swim" (London). This vividly explains that students are not being taught what they need to truly need to learn for the real world. Instead they are forced to learn to solve a math problem using a Pythagorean Theorem. In the real world solving a Pythagorean Theorem problem is less likely to come up than writing business memos. For instances, students are forced to take courses like cooking or knitting rather than a course that will enhance their skills.
