(Rough draft) In the palace of the Sun a mortal by the name of Phaethon yearns to see the Sun god for answers. And by the time he reaches the God’s throne room the light is too blinding for the boy to bear and is forced to stop. As soon as Phaethon gets a chance to ask the Sun god his question he takes it. And the god confirms the boy’s thoughts by saying he is Phaethon’s real father. But Phaethon asks for proof because the kids at his school will not believe him. In return the sun god lets him pick anything he wants and he shall have it. But to the Sun gods dismay Phaethon decides he wants to drive the sun Gods chariot. So in response the god confirms he is Phaethon’s real father. But likewise Phaethon asks for proof because the kids at school will not believe him and in return the sun god lets him pick anything he shall have it.And in this case the Sun god’s promise has backfired and Phaethon decides he is to drive the sun God’s chariot for a day. Hence in honor of his promise the Sun God allows Phaethon to drive the chariot. So then in the chariot it is calm but it quickly turns south when the chariot starts swinging back and forth in control of the steeds. Finally after setting the earth ablaze Phaethon can bear it no more, it was at that point he welcomed death. And in particular Mother Earth could not handle it anymore and cried out to the gods. And Zeus, hearing the cry seized his thunderbolt and struck the chariot in the distance killing the boy.
