If you've ever watched nature films about wild canine pack behavior, the omega wolf (the lowest member of the pact) is treated quite badly by the rest. Your dog may instinctually treat lower members of its pack (your family) in a similar way.

Unfortunately, small children and sometimes even adults can unknowingly do this. Constantly chasing or teasing a dog when it's not in a playful mood, pulling at its ears, placing one's face in its face, hugging it tightly (this is primate behavior, not canine), and taking away its food while it's eating, are unacceptable behaviors for many dogs. Pit bulls, just like any other dog, want a caring family and a joyous home. Some individuals may argue that pit bulls should not be allowed to be kept as pets due to a few of the vicious crimes they have committed in the past, however, the entire pit bull breed should not be punished for the act of a few of their counterparts. A dog owner in many households might spray the dog with water to teach them what they are doing is wrong, just as a child might get a timeout to prove that what they are doing is wrong. That kind of discipline is one thing, but dogfighting owners do things completely different. They abuse, beat, starve, and neglect these animals to develop aggression. Not only that, but the children that grow up around this behavior don't know any different, and when they are older the child will mistreat animals and could even be the cause of some domestic abuse. “The dog runs for up to an hour at a time--sometimes several times a day--on a treadmill.…
