It is in human nature be be superior to others. Pac-Man captures this desire and pins the player against the AI. The ghosts serve as enemies to the player that constantly threaten the players survival. More specifically in Pac-Man’s case is achievement. Pac-Man utilizes several mechanics to reward the player for excelling at the game. Although these awards do not affect the game or make it any easier, it does do one thing: increase the score. The score is valuable to the player because it is a way to measure their success. This motivates the player to collect all the pellets and eat all the ghosts possible to wrack up score. Additionally, fruit is randomly spawned in the middle of the map and gives the player another way to score points. Score appears at the bottom of the screen once collected. Once this is discovered by the player, it not only becomes a matter of beating the level, but to complete the level. The fact that their collection of the fruit is displayed for them on the screen at all times makes it engaging through achievement. To perfect the level the player must collect everything on the screen, accomplishment makes this engaging and causes the player continue to play in order for that
