The aesthetic rules of individual human brain may nd it di cult to follow, however, if broken into pieces, the color, perspective, and composition may nd a way to appeal and tell the story that is hidden within. Period), Picasso’s style re ected a very grim and melancholy color palette, best seen with the Old Guitarist (1903) and Life (1903). In 1905, his style transitioned from somber blues to natural and tender pink and reddish tones. Family of Saltimbanques (1905) and Portrait of Gertrude Stein

Pablo’s work started becoming more abstract. Quick strokes, unblended intense colors, dis gured- yet proportionate- beings conceived the rst cubist painting, Les
Demoiselles d’Avignon (1907). The Fruit Dish (1909) followed displaying a very two dimensional view with analogous colors and choppy shading. In 1921, Picasso reached the peak of his style with the Three Musicians. It breathes pure, classic cubism with its simplicity, rich pigments, and

Pablo Picasso is probably the most important figure of 20th century, in terms of art, and art movements that occurred over this period. Before the age of 50, the Spanish born artist had become the most well known name in modern art, with the most distinct style and eye for artistic creation. There had been no other artists, prior to Picasso, who had such an impact on the art world, or had a mass following of fans and critics alike, as he did. Although his art career spanned over a 7 decade period, Pablo Picasso is most known for his introduction of cubism, and modern approach to painting, which set forth the movements to follow in to the twentieth century.…

He was married twice, and had 4 children by three different women; Picasso also had a plethora of mistresses while he was in these relationships. His infidelity and disregard for women were often depicted in his artwork. Even in some of his most famous works, it’s obvious Pablo Picasso has some type of contempt towards women. In Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, the painting features 5 prostitutes in a brothel – something Picasso was all too familiar with. The faces of many of the women he drew or painted were often blank or grotesque.…

If “someone who spends his life drawing profiles will end up believing the man has one eye,” then the man who draws a landscape for his eternity will believe there is nothing on the other side (Carson 140). Indeed, if the limit of your vision, your insight is as far as the eye can see, you lose the curiosity to know what lies beyond the horizon. Georges Braque, a prominent twentieth century painter who contributed as much to cubism as Picasso did, believed that perspective was a cursed thing. Though he originated by dabbling in impressionism, a more realistic form of art, he explored fauvism, the comparison of strong colors or realism, and later cubism. Braque played with the idea of perspective.…

For my final art paper, I have chosen the painting “The Old Guitarist” by Pablo Picasso. This painting depicts an old man sitting crisscrossed on the floor, hunched over, and holding his guitar like a cello or upright bass. There is a window that nothing is visible out of in the background and what appears to be a step up to the window. The man has silver-gray hair and a bony body and face. The man’s right leg is crossed over his left, and his head leans down facing the floor towards the viewer’s left.…

One of my favorite pieces from the blue period is The Old Guitarist which shows an old, very thin man playing a guitar. I imagine him as a street performer playing for tips on a street corner. The elements used to describe Three Musicians by Pablo Picasso include line, shape, color, and value. This picture displays many irregular lines. This is done to display a picture straying from the ordinary image one would have of musicians. The lines mainly appear organic, like the line in the face of the middle musician because he is not proportionate and the instrument the left musician is playing. Shape can be seen both organic and geometric in this image to unite the musicians together.…
