Pablo Escobar Patriotism

Pablo Escobar was born 1st of December 1949 in a small town called Rionegro. According to Escobar his upbringing was poor and humble, by Colombian standards; he grew up in a middle classed family with his mother being a schoolteacher and his father being a farmer. Early 1970s, Escobar began his life in the cocaine trade. Through the leadership of Escobar, large amounts of coca paste were brought in from Peru and Bolivia and proceed in Colombia and sent and sold in the United States. Escobar partnered with other drug lords from the Medellin. In addition he profited from the business of other dealers who used the infrastructure made by Escobar and his partners. Later on in his life, Escobar seems to have removed himself from direct involvement in drug trafficking. Instead he lived off profits from cocaine dealers through a kind of taxation system he also imposed on other criminals operating in his territory. He created the system as compensation for his efforts to develop the Colombian cocaine industry. Large amount of Escobars power rested on the support of criminal groups that he paid to carry out the violent acts in which he didn’t want to be involved in. Pablo Escobar showed his vigorous support for the Colombia in many different ways, some would say that he did more for Colombia than the actual government did. He created numerous housing projects. He created and funded soccer teams and leagues (Source 1). He put millions into building churches, hospitals across the country and he built a number of schools for children.
