Drug Trafficking
“The ambition and focus that propel you to success can also be your downfall.” Power and wealth have been the downfall of men since the beginning of time. Drug trafficking is a global illicit trade that has become the number one cause of deaths in the United States. Pablo Escobar was a notorious drug Lord during the 1970-1990’s who became famous for his illegal activities in Drug Trafficking. Becoming untouchable in his own country and continuing to raise the number of drug overdoses in the US, he became the most wanted man in the US and in Columbia. His mother was a school teacher and his father was a farmer. His family struggled to make ends meet. Escobar never wanted to struggle in his life as he did when he was younger which created a strong ambition leading to his success in his future career. He also grew up in a time of violence especially in the area he was in which contributed to his future endeavours. He began his criminal lifestyle by selling gravestones in the streets of Medellin. It was a quick and easy way to obtain cash. He was shortly involved in a numerous of other illegal activities ranging from stealing cars to kidnapping (Jung). Escobar was also believed to be the man responsible for murder of Medellín’s most powerful drug lord, Fabio Restrepo in 1975. Addition, ADST strongly believes Escobar was the force behind the siege on Colombia’s Supreme Court on November 6, 1985.
