PTSD: GHOST From The Fast

PTSD-GHOST FROM THE PAST In 2015, people of Nepal had to go through two destructive earthquakes. Many people died, and many lost their houses. I survived, but a close friend of mine lost his life. I could feel the pain that his family was going through. It affected his mother the most. After those earthquakes, many aftershocks were shaking the surface of Nepal. I could see his mother shouting his son 's name and asking people for help. The death of her son made her mentally ill. Each of the aftershocks reminded her child 's death. And to make her feel good, her family is always with her as love, care and support are the most essential thing her family can give to help her get out of those thoughts. So, what was wrong with her? She had PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). “PTSD is a common anxiety disorder that develops after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal in which grave physical harm occurred or was threatened (“Definition of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder”).” PTSD is a ghost from the past because it makes you relive those events through nightmares, flashbacks, and …show more content…
But what about its complications. What a person suffering from PTSD is likely to do? What steps might he take to forget those thoughts or painful memories? One of the most dangerous complications that PTSD could lead to is Suicide. “New York Times Studies report that up to 18% of people with anxiety disorder attempt suicide and up to 38.5% regularly harbor suicidal thoughts (“Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Possible Complications - Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Health Information - NY Times Health”).” Hopefully, Tayo didn’t commit suicide. But PTSD led him to another complication, developing the habit to drinking alcohol. He started drinking with his friends thinking that it will help him erase those painful thoughts.
