I do this because it matters! Personally, I believe it to be the most important factor. Without our planet, we have no “us.” In fact, much of the work I strive to do revolves around such. I have a children’s book manuscript – explain it here. I moved to Idaho after a four-month contract job touring our National Parks, collecting and documenting visitors park experiences while educating them on backwoods safety and on how to minimize one’s impact and ‘leave no trace.’ The reason I moved to Idaho was to produce a documentary film on the wolf/rancher debate, but instead, found myself at the epicenter of an animal rescue operation and a political nightmare involving 75 cats and 17 dogs whose lives were at stake. I worked on a PBS series, Real Mom’s, Real Stories, Real Savvy and picked up a Telly Award for editing the episode – fill in here. Over the past century we have seen not only our population skyrocket, but also our technological capacity increase exponentially. My worldview, primarily eco-centric, is focused on the incredible potential of technology to create sustainable harmony between humanity and the earth. We have gotten to a point in our evolution where it will be impossible to revert to our pre-industrial state. Our resources are limited and should not be wasted, this traces back to the fundamental property of the universe: energy and matter cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be converted between forms. So much matter is wasted and converted into a state in which it is impossible to recover it, and instead of draining the earth we should be focusing on developing inexhaustible…

With this separation, it is always incredibly satisfying to be involved with groups that are so dedicated to conserving lands for species to use. The project that I was so fortunate to work with was the MPG Ranch. This project allowed me to experience the actions of conservationists from a firsthand perspective in order to see for myself the value of humans with the environment.…

Final Portfolio Cover Letter I have always enjoyed writing so I feel like classes such as these help me more than others. Before I finish college I hope to take some sort of creative writing class as I feel as I haven’t given that opportunity much in recent years amidst constant essays on topic that I do not care about. As a writer I believe my biggest strength is that when I start writing I can keep writing almost until I have run out of things to write about or am interrupted for some reason. I also feel as though I’m very good at writing about things I am passionate about and if I care about a topic you will be able to clearly tell when reading what I wrote.…

One of the emerging values recognized by human beings is the concern for our environments and the living creatures that we share them with, but what would happen if human beings stopped caring for their planet and completely disregarded any other living creature outside of the human race? Expert biologist, Jeff Corwin, discusses this idea in his article “The Sixth Extinction,” published by the Los Angeles Times. He argues in his article that while there have been preventative programs put into place, human beings are actively destroying our planet and slowly killing off hundreds of species with every deforestation project, landfill, and black-market trade. For his article, Corwin uses real life experiences to strengthen his credibility. In addition to his easy-to-understand writing style, Corwin also pulls his audience into the root of his essay by providing shocking facts that give readers an insight as to what could happen if they continue to disregard their planet and the other living species that reside there.…
