I am interesting in applying to PLFSOM because I have a desire to ultimately become a primary care physician that works in underserved communities. Coming from a rural area, I know what a lack of providers in a region can do to a community. I have spent a lot of time in border towns since my dads family is originally from Mexico and I have been able to see first hand that even the biggest of border towns still has a very big proportion of their population that is underserved. Right now, I already use my Spanish to help the Spanish speaking patients that we see at our clinic but my Spanish medical terminology is not as strong as I would like.
