This means parents who have life threatening diseases or are carries of such things, can ensure they do not pass the same thing to their children.
With the development of such technology PGD can stop children being brought into this world that will have serious health complications most likely causing them to die in their early years. It allows parents to know and not feel guilty about passing down the genes that cause these type of diseases.
Another reason we have PGD is to create saviour sibling. This is where parents have another child specifically made to be able to do things like stem cell transplants to …show more content…
Hensley believes that PGD is unethical, as it goes against the rights of the unborn child. He also has strong religious beliefs that come into play with his opinion which can make his argument a lot more about beliefs than the actual biology of it. He believes that in the future PGD will turn into not only getting rid of the bad genes but also start selecting for the best genes, “designer babies”
In his perspective all life is sacred, even ones of an embryo 's and so discarding them is unfair. In terms of embryos being screened to be “saviour sibling” where parents of a sick child, have another child that is made specifically for giving things like stem cell transplants. This is seen by Hensley as well as many others as cruel, Immanuel Kant: “human beings should always be treated as ends in themselves and not as the means for another person to attain his or her ends.” (EPIC, 21/9/16)
Another view he has is that patients safety in all tests is the most important thing, but with PGD the embryos are not being seen as living, so their safety in future years is not thought about enough as it should
