PCC Supervisor Position: A Case Study

Decent Essays
Bridget,

Thank you for taking the time to meet with me today regarding the PCC Supervisor position.

Following our meeting today, I believe that the vision for the Oral Surgery practice is one in which I could grow both personally and professionally. I am very excited about the prospect of positioning UW Faculty Oral Surgery as the first choice practice in Oral Surgery. Scheduling is often the first interaction a patient has with a clinic and it is a very important opportunity to present a smooth professional patient experience that makes referring providers and patients think of you when considering their oral health needs.

Thank you again for your time and consideration,

Rebecca

The appropriate course of action to resolve this potential issue would be open communication and awareness of the roles, boundaries, and power dynamics involved in these relationships and each situation to minimize the potential for harm to the supervisee and supervisory relationship recommended by Pearson and Piazza (1997). Especially, in this case analysis the supervisor could potentially be taking advantage of the supervisee without even knowing, because the supervisee may just agree with the supervisor based solely off of the differences and power and the supervisors position. The last potential ethical dilemma is a direct result of lack of clear boundaries which is being able to effectively avoid issues or problems presented by their dual or multiple relationships. The supervisor in this case was considering sharing a room with their supervisee during a family therapy conference that they both had to attend.…
