There has been an increase of behaviour and violence problems occurring in schools. In the article Effects of Implementing School-Wide Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports on Problem Behaviour and Academic Achievement in a Canadian Elementary School, by Kelm, McIntosh, and Cooley discuss the effects of School-Wide Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports, also known as PBIS, in the classroom. Among young youth in Canada, the rates of violence and behaviour problems is increasing. These same rates can been seen in the United States. These behaviour problems can negatively effect the students future. The social environment for children can either protect them or cause behaviour problems. The effects of PBIS in the schools were positive in all aspects. After extensive research, the authors concluded that PBIS in schools would benefit everyone. Does PBIS have a positive effect in Canadian schools? The authors of the source believe so. The authors provided solid research to argue their ideas. The study conducted as resourceful and fair. Although the article was a bit wordy and a little difficult to read, the author clearly got his message across. The article is supported with reliable and resourceful information that makes the authors writing more strong. It can be seen that in British Columbia, PBIS had a positive effect. It would have been interesting to see what the effects of PBIS would have been other parts of the country. The perspectives and life style of a student in Quebec might have different effects than that of a student in BC. In addition, research on a high school would have made the argument
