The challenge that comes with high stakes testing and evidence based writing is very simple; teachers are not aware of what topic the students will be tested on so how are they to adequately prepare their students to deal with these evidence-based writing tasks. Multimodal refers to pictures, graphs, charts, webpages, videos, and audio recordings that can be used alongside regular, nondigital, text to provide the student with even more knowledge on the subject at hand. Frank Serafini (2013) suggests a framework, which is made up of three parts, which will help student analyze and grasp meaning from multimodal texts. The first read or level focuses on the perceptual dimensions of the text this means that the first reading of the text is to pick up the general concept that is being discusses. The second reading or level two focuses on the way in which the text was constructed. When looking at the construction of a text, students should focus on matter such as point of view, framing, or page orientation. Finally with the third read or level three, students should be looking into the text to find deeper
