P2 Reflection

During the process of P2 year in pharmacy school I noticed that the amount of academic information provided to us was more extensive than previous P1 year, which made it more challenging for me to try and balance any extracurricular activities with my academic duties. From every situation that I experienced so far the task that presented the most challenging has been finding an efficient and practical way of studying for IP infectious disease course. I have struggle not necessary due to the amount of material presented but with time in particularly as this course requires repetition and significant reading and memorization in order to perform well and this is something that I am struggling with. I do believe I have learned and gain valuable …show more content…
For example while in my community pharmacy rotation at Clarks Pharmacy I was able to visit the Psychiatric homes and see the process on how the pharmacist ensures the medications for the patients are placed and stored in the correct areas in compliance to law. In addition, I learned how you could check and verify their medication regimen making sure the meds they have on stock match with the documentation of the dispensing pharmacy. In addition, I was able to see the role of a community pharmacist in control substance verification of inventory from a hospital they provide service to. In regards to my Hospital rotation I was able to aid in the bi-annual hospital nursing training in which we reviewed with them common reconstitution types of mathematical calculations, proper aseptic techniques and reconstitution of different IV bags. This experience was unique as I was able to serve as an educator to …show more content…
Not only I have gain knowledge but as well I have been able to become more empathetic with patients as well I have improved greatly my communication and writing skills. There are some topics we covered on class such as IP infectious disease that I wish I had been able to grasp better in order to feel more prepared for the future, but I understand that it is up to me to make the best of it and it is my intention to self study during the summer to further solidify and reinforced those areas were I did not felt as confident as I would have liked. I believe that factors that played a role in this area was time mainly and finding a good method or technique to study for this class. In addition, other areas were I did not grew to my desire level was in the leadership aspect. I was able to perform a role of leadership as an outreach coordinator as part of the committee for Christians Pharmacist Fellowship International (CPFI) at the College of Pharmacy, but I wanted to excel even further into a higher leadership position such as President or Vice-president of another organization, which I failed to apply and do so. Partially what limited me was my worrisome on not having enough time to perform the demanding tasks that the position

I am a registered pharmacy technician and have practised in community pharmacy for almost 6 years in the UK. The services that the pharmacy was providing were like where I had previously worked and all the standard operating procedures were similar. However, during the placement, I could see the pharmacist’s point of view rather than a technician and how the role of the pharmacist is different from that of a pharmacy technician. The pharmacist’s role was more focused on the clinical aspect, rather than just dispensing and ordering medication. I learnt how to recruit patients who are eligible for Medicines Use Review (MUR) and New Medicines Service (NMS).…

Actually, I am still in the most challenging academic course I have taken to date, AP United States History (APUSH). APUSH has been difficult for me due to the fact that I had very little knowledge of US history preceding my enrollment in the class. Furthermore, prior to this class I had never really had to study extensively to maintain high marks. APUSH has been different. Having little knowledge of this material, I have had to spend much more time studying.…

Coming into English 101, I really did not know what to expect. This was my first college writing class so I had no idea what it was going to be like. In high school I would have considered myself to be a decent writer, not the best or not the worst. I would never impress anyone with my writing skills but I could still come across as educated on my topic.…

As a member of Health Occupations Students of America, I competed in dental terminology in the interest of diversifying my knowledge of the medical field and made it to state-level competition. I also joined a rigorous Pharmacy Technician Certification class and interned at CVS, an experience that taught me to work fast and in an organized fashion, be social with colleagues and customers, and teamwork skills such as assisting a customer or answering phone calls for co-workers. These responsibilities taught me to make use of time and be more social. This environment was amazing to me because I had always wanted to understand how a pharmacy is managed. In the end, I passed the state exam to become a certified Pharmacy…

Day 2 at PPI went REALLY fast then I expected. I was so excited to be back on the 4th floor and to see how my patient from Tuesday was doing. It is the first rotation that is the first chance to gain new experiences and learning sets through just hands on knowledge. I believe that the rotation is a period of growth and should be counted as a time of self-reflection. During the first week rotation, I had a notion that introductory pharmacy practice experiences (IPPEs) were just an application of concepts learned in pharmacy school. In the hospital, as an observer-participant I helped pharmacy technicians fill orders for patients and ensure that they are delivered to the right units. They also assist the pharmacist ensure that the pharmacy has the right amount of stock to meet patient needs.…

I’m still steering towards the research and work at the industry level. The work at the community pharmacy seemed very monotonous and didn 't have much variation. I did like the patient interaction. I recognize the importance and role that the community pharmacy plays because the pharmacist is the last step in the patients’ health care. They are the last medical professional that the patient can talk too about their treatment, concerns and symptoms.…

This is the first time I have actually felt comfortable enough to want to be in the classroom all day, everyday. This semester opened up my eyes in many different ways, and if anything, made me fall more in love with teaching and working with these students. After this practicum experience, I bring a new gift with me and that is confidence. I feel at easy in front of a group of students and truly feel that if my CT made me get up and help her teach, I could figure it out.…
