In this experiment, the synthesis and decomposition of metal oxalate were used to determine the theoretical yield of products in different reactions. The metal salt used was FeCl2 * 4H2O The mass of metal oxalate recovered in the synthesis of the oxalate was measured at 3.961 grams. The metal decomposition product recovered was calculated at 1.005 grams. The theoretical metal oxalate yield was 3.58 grams. The percent yield was calculated at 111%. The theoretical yield of product of reaction A was determined at 0.401 grams with a 251% percent yield. 0.446 grams was calculated as the theoretical yield of product of reaction B with a percent yield of 225%.
