Owen Sables is a penguin working at a scientific research facility, finishing his deceased father's work to find a cure for cancer. Sables discovers a new rare Earth element, which he names Acraium. In liquid form, some Acraium drops into his mug of cocca. He drinks it, and is knocked unconcious. He wakes up in hospital some time later, and is able to leave straight away as the doctors persist he is perfectly healthy. Once outside, he discovers he can fly, meaning Acraium does not cure cancer, but altered his DNA, giving him the unique ability. One night, Owen spots a criminal beating up an inoccent seal for her money, so he lands and breaks it up. The police arrive and the criminal is turned in. Owen, who is unidentified in the local newspaper, is seen as a hero.
Owen is searching for his father's notes on possible cures for cancer in his attic when he finds his old comic-book collection. He begins to read them and is immediatley awash with nostalgia. Super Penguin, meanwhile, sucessfully prevents Spittlebug from assasinating the president of Antarctica. During a fight they have, Spittlebug rips off Super Penguin's mask and discovers he is really Owen Sables. Spittlebug then decides to take revenge on Sables by murdering him at the 50th anniversary party. Later on, Spittlebug is resting in his home, a poorly-built Igloo, when he is visited by a chicken who can talk. The chicken explains he is the result of a scientific experiment that went wrong. He offers to help Spittlebug in ensuring the downfall of the only thing that stands in their way of being leaders of the world: Super
