I do not believe my worldview has changed very much from the beginning of the semester except maybe for the fact that I would say that a basic knowledge of philosophy is necessary to every Christian who wants to be an effective witness in today’s postmodern society. At any rate I am going to go through each of the main beliefs that make up a worldview namely my philosophy of theology, metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, anthropology, and evil. There are many facets to each of these six beliefs; however I will only deal with each one in relation to the questions that were discussed in class and in Life’s Ultimate Questions by Ronald Nash.
My Philosophy of Theology
I believe first of all that God is a personal being who is interested in all of mankind because he created them in his image. I also believe in the Trinity specifically God in three persons manifested in God the Father, God the Son or Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. My theology is also largely influenced by the Wesleyan – Arminian theology. It has been even more impacted and defined by the Systematic Theology class I took this semester. I also strongly believe in attainable entire sanctification in this life. As humans we are created in God’s image and given a free will with which we can choose whether or not to reject God. God gave us a free will because he understood that if we were not given a choice our love toward him would be merely robotic and not heartfelt and sincere. God does not use humans as pawns to do his bidding, but gives us a choice to follow his leading.
