Overpopulation Of Rats

All living organisms on the Earth have to eat food in order to survive, grow, respond to their environment, and reproduce. Different organisms require different food due to their physiological needs. Thus, the food that organisms get to eat has great impacts on them both mentally and physically. Furthermore, the difference will also impact the ecology of their living environments and vice versa.
Firstly, the Nova documentary named “Rat Attack” shows that organisms such as black rats have the ability to impact on ecology of our local environment and the impact can cause disaster to human beings. In the incident, the black rats were originally fed on the bamboo fruits. However, after they reproduced more and more offspring, the bamboo fruits were eventually depleted. Thus, the food shortage led them to eat the rice crops in local farms. By eating the harvest of the farmers, the black rats hugely reproduced again leading to an even greater amount of black rats requiring even more food while people having no food had to starve and suffer for a whole year. The overpopulation of black rats had a great impact on the local environment and led to an unbalanced ecosystem.

Some bacteria are harmful to human body. Helicobacter pylori is an example of disease-causing bacteria which “seem to thrive in the acidic environment of the stomach”. As mentioned previously, there are also certainly good bacteria such as the probiotics that can lower our anxiety levels. Other examples include “Bacteroides fragilis” which has useful functions such as “aiding in the development and regulation of the immune system”. Thus, if we can ingest more food source that contains these types of good bacteria, we will be healthier and have lower chance to have certain
